Deloitte Plans Layoffs in U.S.

Deloitte & Touche will cut about 900 U.S. employees, or about 2 percent of its workforce, because of the slowing economy. "Just like anybody else, we are looking to cut costs," spokesperson Deborah Harrington told WebCPA. The cuts are expected to occur soon, and aren't focused on any particular location.

I'm not surprised- I interviewed with Deloitte earlier this year. It took three gruelling interviews with three different people to determine if I were the right fit. What a waste of time, and a waste of Deloitte's payroll. Glad I wasn't chosen!!!

My family member was told today (10/9) would be his last day at Deloitte. He has been with Deloitte over 5 years and is a Sr. Consultant in the AIS group in the LA office. Insanity.

I was laid off early this week. There was a meeting invite and the Partner at the meeting room told me that it would be my last day at Deloitte. I am on work visa and quite shocked that Deloitte did not give me enough heads up, if I decide to leave the country..
